The Global City Rating Challenge
Rate your environment and win a Nokia 7 Plus smartphone!

What do you see and hear around you, how’s the air? What’s your favourite place in the city? Are there places that need to be taken better care of?

Open your senses and explore your city in a new way: by rating the environment. You can give points any place you want, any time, and you are doing good for the planet. You can even win a Nokia 7 Plus smartphone.

Envirate and ENO announce that the City Rating Challenge is on – so act now!

The global City Rating Challenge is a competition for everyone who cares about our planet and wants to increase environmental awareness. Our aim is global data collection on quality of the local environment from people’s own perceptions. By rating you will create dots that will start to draw a worldwide map of the state of our planet.

We will reward the 5 people who rate the most in their cities during 22 May - 15 June 2018 with the latest Nokia 7 Plus smartphones.

Instructions for the competition:

Go to m.envirate.net with your mobile and start rating!
The idea is to rate your environment with the Envirate app on a scale from 0 (very bad) to 5 (excellent) on three main senses – Look, Hear, Breathe.
Rate wherever you go and rate as much as you can between 22 May - 15 June, 2018
The five top raters will be awarded with the newest Nokia 7 Plus mobile phones
We’ll announce the leaderboard along the way on the Envirate and ENO Facebook pages so please follow them!

NB! Please note that in this competition the quality of the ratings are the main priority. Therefore, we will carefully monitor the data quality, disqualifying all dubious users.

Ljubljana 21 May 2018
Environment Online and Envirate start co-operation to increase
environmental awareness, plant trees and rate cities around the world

To boost environmental awareness and action, Envirate started a partnership with Environment Online (ENO). Envirate was introduced to ENO first time last year when Envirate launched its award-winning mobile application at the international ENO’s Act Now conference on June 15th, 2017 in Joensuu.

The global ENO network has planted over 20 million trees and has established a network of over 10 000 schools in 150 countries. ENO network has excellent know-how and experience in tree planting activities. “We, in both Envirate and in ENO, believe that tree-planting is one fundamental key to a better planet,” says Pekka Harju-Autti, the founder and CEO of Envirate. He assures: “It is envisaged that ENO network has a key role in planning large tree planting projects. To make our mutual vision happen for the more sustainable planet, we shall deepen our organizational relationship in the near future”.

Envirate allows anybody with a mobile phone give ratings on the environment around them wherever in the world. ”Envirate is a perfect tool for us and our global network. We will start to use Envirate in our ENO activities, and we will challenge our Green Cities around the world to join this huge environmental movement and rate our network’s cities”, acknowledges Mika Vanhanen, the founder of ENO.

To kick off the new co-operation, Envirate and ENO will publish their mutual competition for their extended networks tomorrow. Global “City Challenge” competition starts at 9 am on Tuesday, June 22nd, 2018. The competition will encourage people to rate their environment according to their three main senses: look, hear, breathe. Follow the Envirate and ENOFacebook pages to get further information about the competition, so you can be among the firsts to get the instructions on how to win the newest Nokia 7 Plus mobile phones while doing good for the planet Earth.

ENO Art Bee Contest 2018 and results

ENO ART BEE CONTEST 2018

237 bees from 35 countries reached in time to be evaluated. The jury consisted of four members : Mika Vanhanen, Almina Durakovic, Masa Kozjek and Malci Boznar. In the criteria, focus was laid on the use of recycled material and imagination, instead of cute cartoon-like bees. Judges did not know name of authors or countries as each bee was only marked with code number. So this made the evaluation as objective as possible.

There were great work so the decisions were difficult. But the winners was found easily. Thank you for all the participants! These bees will be shown here in Slovenia in the end of summer.

Trinidad Tobago: 1805 trees planted by kids with support of EMA

posted Jan 5, 2018, 1:47 AM by Mika Vanhanen   [ updated Jan 5, 2018, 1:56 AM ]

Over the past two years, the EMA ( Environmental Management Authority) has participated in the ENO’s global tree planting initiative. We were able to reach out to diverse communities, involving children and youth in tree planting to increase appreciation of the value of trees. We are proud to have been able to plant 1805 trees throughout the two islands of  Trinidad and Tobago.

In 2016, the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) of Trinidad and Tobago accepter the invitation to participate 100 million trees  by 2017 campaign. Same year , the EM planted 370 trees at schools through its Enviro Club Progrmme, thus empowering children and youth through tree planting. In 2017, the exercise continued with 1435 trees being planted, bringin the EMA's total contribution to 1805.

posted Apr 15, 2016, 5:59 AM by Mika Vanhanen

Poland proudly supports 100 Million Trees Campaign. The State Forests are implementing the assumptions of the programme by encouraging children and youth to participate in tree planting events with the help of foresters. All regional directorates of The State Forests (17) as well as forest districts (430) are involved in the programme. Until now (i.e. March-April), over 450 thousand trees have been planted as part of field actions. The major tree species are: pine, spruce, oak, beech.

Because the planting season in Poland falls in spring and autumn, we will be able to send you the comprehensive report regarding the proceedings of programme in November.
