posted Jan 16, 2012, 2:50 AM by Mika Vanhanen

Environment Online – ENO is a global virtual school and network for sustainable development. It has been running since 2000 and reached thousands of schools in 150 countries. ENO Tree Planting Day has been the most popular activity. It's an open event for schools and groups interested in environment and peace. It is arranged twice in a year, in May and in September. We plant trees and get to know about species on the planting sites.

The first ENO Tree Planting Day took place about eight years ago in 2004. So far schools have planted over 7 million trees and we aim to plant 100 million trees by the end of 2017. To celebrate the 12th ENO Tree Planting Day and the forthcoming Rio 20+ we call all the schools in the world to plant trees with us on the 22nd of May 2012. We aim to create the worlds' biggest educational event for schools. Target is to plant 20 million trees during 2012, in every country of the world.

Participating schools will receive certificates for their efforts. In addition there will be special awards for the most active countries and planters. Awards will be given in Rio 20+ Summit 22nd of June 2012.

Welcome to take part! Register your school and find more information on the event website http://treeday.enoprogramme.org
